ACHA Women's Division Titles Decided

ASHBURN, VA-After 12 games over the past two days, four teams remain in contention for the ACHA Women's Division 1 National Championship. The top four national seeds all held serve to advance, but they took vastly different routes to get there.

#1 ranked Liberty University cruised through Pool Play with a 3-0 record; outscoring their opponents by a combined 14-1 margin. #3 ranked University of Minnesota also advanced out of Pool A, the Lady Gophers won their first two games by a combined 10-1 margin before falling to the Lady Flames 5-0.

#2 ranked University of Massachusetts-Amherst recovered from an opening game loss to win Pool B with a 2-1 record. Their fate was unkown until the final buzzer on Division 1 Pool Play. Northeastern pulled their goaltender in overtime needing a win vs Michigan St to advance, Michigan St scored with 9 seconds remaining in OT to eliminate the Lady Huskies. Also advancing from Pool B is #4 ranked Robert Morris University (IL), the Lady Eagles finished with a 2-1 record as well but finished 2nd in the pool due to the head to head result. UMass-Amherst defeated Robert Morris (IL) 2-1 in pool play.

The semi-final games will take place Saturday, March 9. At 11:00 am #1 Liberty will play #4 Robert Morris (IL), the second semi-final will be played at 1:15 pm featuring #2 UMass-Amherst and #3 Minnesota.

All games will take place at the Ashburn Ice House in Ashburn, VA, and are available to view LIVE and On Demand via FASTHOCKEY.
