2020 USA Hockey Lake Placid Adult Classic

January 10-12, 2020


  • Team Entry Fee is $1,030, and is first come, first served. A $200 deposit is due at the time of registration. 
  • All tournament participants receive a USA Hockey Gift and Post Game Refreshments. Championship teams receive additional prizing. 
  • All players must be members of USA Hockey for the ’19-’20 season before the start date of the tournament. The membership fee is $46 per player (additional local affiliate fee may apply) and can be done online at
  • All players must be 21 years of age or older by the start date of the tournament. Additional age requirements may exist based on division description.  
  • Each team is guaranteed three games during round-robin play.  All Championship games will be played on Sunday.  In divisions of eight teams or more only, AND DEPENDING ON ICETIME AVAILABILITY, semi-final games will be played to determine the championship game match-up.
  • The game schedule will be posted at and will be sent via e-mail to the team contact/captain no later than one week prior to the event.  
  • No schedule requests will be accepted. Games on Friday can begin as early as 12pm, please make travel plans accordingly.
  • Entry deadline is December 27th, 2019.  However, the event is first come, first served and any division(s) could be closed earlier based on ice time availability and number of teams entered overall.
  • A team that withdraws from the tournament after the deadline (12/27/19) will not receive a refund


  • A minimum of four teams is required to run a division.  The maximum number of teams will depend on the amount of teams entered in the overall event.
  • Each game will consist of three 12 minute stop time periods with a three minute warm-up that will start when the Zamboni doors close.  There will be an ice make before each game.
  • Three preliminary round robin games will be played by each team within their division. Results will determine which teams advance from each division to the playoff or championship round.  Standings and tie-breaker information will be provided to each team captain and will be posted throughout the weekend.  
  • All playoff round games (Championship and Semi-Final) will be played on Sunday.  Semi-Final games will be played ONLY when there is sufficient ice time available, and ONLY in divisions of eight teams or more.  
  • If a preliminary round robin game ends in a tie, a best of three player round robin shootout will be utilized.  If still tied, a sudden death shootout will take place with each team getting a shot until there is a winner.  
  • For Semi-Final (if needed) and Championship games only: If a playoff round game ends in a tie, a five minute, 4 on 4, sudden victory overtime period will be played prior to the shootout format above.

*Note: Visiting teams shoot first in shoot outs.  Once the team with the least amount of players runs out, both teams may start over.
